neo-beta is the most accurate to beta 1.7.3 and below however is quite chaotic and lacks sizable oceans due to changes in terrain generation in the later releases. extra-neo is slightly less chaotic and has decent sized oceans, but the terrain is nowhere near as accurate to beta so seeds like Glacier are dwarfed.neo beta While exploring through this custom generation I noticed that there were very little flat areas compared to Beta's generation where they were much more common. It seems that when Biome Depth Offset and Biome Scale Offset are different values the surface of the terrain is unnaturally noisy and hilly.

The Beta 1.7.3 code seemed to use a lot of math to determine the minimum and maximum height, and I couldn't quite figure out what numbers I should input there. So, I've played around with both biomeDepthOffset and biomeScaleOffset, until I got things looking as close to Beta as I could. Neo-Beta Preset This is a preset that is close to the Beta terrain generator, it has full height variation across all biomes, and many of the landmarks look similar to the Beta landmarks in the seeds I've tested.
